Research interest
I trained as a geneticist and plant breeder working with wheat and then soybean. In my work at the Ottawa Research and Development Centre since 1996, the soybean breeding program has a focus on specialty food type cultivars, primarily for the Asian export market, adapted to the short-season areas of Canada. In addition to yield, end use functional traits, agronomic traits and stress tolerance, I work to understand the genetic control of time to flowering and maturity. Early maturity is critical for the short-season soybean area expanding west and north in Canada.

- M.Sc., Plant Genetics, University of Guelph
I am involved in objective 2, in research related to allelic diversity and phenotypic effect of known earliness genes, identification of novel genes controlling maturity, and development of populations and phenotyping to develop and test genomic selection tools to breed for increased yield.
