Research interest

Dr. Hartman addresses significant challenges faced by soybean producers through his research on soybean diseases and pests. His research includes differentiating pathogens and pests that attack soybeans and providing management strategies for these pests. His collaborative efforts with breeders, biochemists, and molecular biologists are instrumental in unraveling complex disease and pest conditions. His current research focuses on variability and biology of soybean pathogens and pests, epidemiology of soybean diseases and pests, the nature and genetics of host plant resistance, and soybean disease and pest management.
